There are a number of different ways to give your company or social media a new edge. With the shift of TikTok to the reimagined Instagram Reels and the new aged demographics of Facebook, making sure to innovate by staying on the cutting edge is a race that never ends. Here are a couple of podcast ideas that can bring out the innovator in you.
Food Review bloggers have been a thing forever now. It has become second nature for my wife to dig through whatever Foodie has dedicated themselves to the next city we are traveling to weeks before we travel. These content creators may have the best job in the business, eating wonderful food and taking delicious pictures on edible art, but, aside from slurping and chewing many of these reviews can be done with a microphone. Interviews with the chef, walkthroughs of the recipe at home, a detailed review of the food, and a picture as the episode image. So many options are out there for the audiophile, but we often miss this content because we are too busy to see what is already out there.
Under the same umbrella as the Foodies is the work out buff, or like me, the wanna-be work out buff who has more than gained their ‘Covid-19lbs.’ But unless you want to take pictures and post them to Instagram detailing your personal workout and terrible form, maybe it’s better if you opened the voice memo app and recorded your progress another way. Break down for your listeners the struggle of having to turn down yet another cheese stuffed crust pizza with extra jalapeños. Tell your successes when you can do a full sit-up and what you learned at the gym. Everyone wants to be a success story, tell yours on a podcast.
One of the most common questions I personally get when I go to podcasting events is how to monetize a podcast. Well, if you want to take a shortcut and not have to worry about making your own content, making mini-series for companies like the parks department giving people detailed information or history about an area is extremely valuable. Not to mention these organizations often have a budget to spend as well. So if you live in Utah where you have more parks than people, it might not be a bad idea to sling together a portfolio and record 20hrs of history, guided tours, park information, and detailed on the flora and fauna and set your asking price high.
While I have talked about newsletters before, with the whole world now working from home, having a way that can reach people’s hearts and ears without getting in their way is getting increasingly difficult. This is why a newsletter that breaks the sound barrier might not be a bad idea. Having your company CEO make an internally based podcast that allows him to tell successes, break bad news, and come together with his company that doesn’t interrupt their workflow, is as valuable as the time people would waste in sitting down in a meeting for it. Don’t waste that time on trying to get Zoom to work, instead, pick up your phone and hit record.
This is an idea I’ve had for a while. As a podcast nerd, I come across some amazing content and very interesting underserved podcasts. Which is why I’ve always wanted to make a podcast with only trailers. This concept is not new but It hasn’t been kept up and expanded upon. Imagine a podcast that can become an interesting hub for a variety of topics that has a short succinct bite of interesting information and links to the proper shows. While this would take heaps of industry knowledge and production work, it could also be a great way to leverage into being a very valuable space when discoverability is still so difficult for podcasts.
Of course, there are a variety of podcast ideas out there, check out some unique and experimental ideas as well if you are trying to figure out what podcast you would like to create.
